Ingredients

  • 4 large russet potatoes thinly sliced
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese shredded
  • 1 cup Parmesan cheese grated
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp butter for greasing the baking dish

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a baking dish with butter.
  • Thinly slice the potatoes using a mandoline slicer or a sharp knife.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the heavy cream, garlic powder, black pepper, and salt.
  • Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the baking dish. Sprinkle half of the cheddar and Parmesan cheese over the potatoes.
  • Pour half of the cream mixture over the cheese layer.
  • Repeat the layering process with the remaining potatoes, cheese, and cream mixture.
  • Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 40 minutes.
  • Remove the foil and bake for an additional 20 minutes until the top is golden and bubbly.
  • Let cool for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

For an extra crispy top, broil for 2-3 minutes at the end of baking. This dish pairs perfectly with steak or roasted chicken!
